The Silver Coast

Be overwhelmed by the magnificent Silver Coast. Experience miles of untouched beaches and coast line. All of this within a short but scenic 20 minute drive of one another.

Obidos
One of Portugal's world heritage sites. The charming village nestled within the ancient castle walls has become one of the most popular places to visit for visitors and locals alike. For centuries, people fought to hold on to this beautiful castle, first the Romans, then the Moors and finally in 1148 it was claimed in the name of Portugal. It subsequently developed into a major trading port along the atlantic ocean. In the 13th century it was given to Queen Dona Isabella as a wedding gift. In the 16th century the port dammed up due to large silt deposits at the river delta but to remained a popular destination and remained a wedding gift for every Portuguese queen for years to come.
To this day Obidos has remained one of the most popular tourist attractions in Portugal, capturing the imagination of all who walk the walls or stroll along the cobble streets through the markets and shops. This amazing place has become famous for its festivals, such as the chocolate festival and the medieval festival. Obidos is also renowned for the drink known as Ginja, a delicious cherry liquer that is drank out of a chocolate cup which is then eaten afterwards. Delicious!
Not only can people enjoy the fabulous castle in the area, but there is also the breath taking Obidos Lagoon, popular for fishing, sailing and other water sports. A peaceful get away, with miles of untouched forest, quiet beaches and quaint residential areas. 

Nazare
Probably Portugal's most well known fishing village, Nazare offers something for everyone. As you drive into Nazare you are greeted by the lovely marina, deep blue waters, golden beaches and the breathtaking white cliffs of Sitio. This bustling village offers one of the most vibrant night lives on the Silver Coast, mouth watering restaurants, museums and shops. Take the funicular carriage up to Sitio and enjoy the stunning views, restaurants and market.
Nazare has for decades been a popular holiday destination for Portuguese people from Lisbon and further North and it has never lost its charm and tradition, to this day the beaches are lined with racks used to dry the fish caught that day by the local fishermen, to this day you will see many of the local women wearing the traditional seven skirts, symbolising the fact that their husbands are home safe and sound from fishing trips.

Sao Martinho do Porto
This peaceful fishing village was the holiday destination of choice for the Portuguese royal family. The stunning shell shaped bay is lined with shops, cafes and restaurants serving mouth watering fish dishes as well some traditional pork, chicken and beef meals.
Sao Martinho Do Porto offers the perfect get away for the whole family, with a lovely swimming beach and cycle track for the kids, peace and quiet for the gran parents, nice pubs and nearby night clubs for the 20-30's and a safe and secure place for mom and dad to do their own thing and not worry about the kids.

Golden Triangle of Golf
The Silver Coast also boasts the golden triangle, a golfers dream. This area of land contains 7 championship golf courses, including Praia d'El Rey, voted best golf course in Europe in 2007.
Portugal's great weather and diverse terrain makes it a perfect place to play golf and it is fast becoming one of the most popular places to play golf in the world.

Caldas Da Rainha: A vibrant village and artistic hub, offering shopping, cinemas, recreation, restaurants, pubs, art and jazz festivals and other services with bus and train stations to and from most places in the country.
Foz De Arelho: A stunning village located at the mouth of the Obidos Lagoon, popular for its night life, fish restaurants and safe swimming beaches.
Peniche: A vibrant village originally built inside the walls of a fortress, the ancient walls are still visible to those who visit. World famous for its surfing beaches, Baleal Beach hosts some of the world's most popular surf competitions. Peniche also offers a charming Marina with boat rides round the near by islands as well as a nice night life and some divine fish restaurants.
